Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR)

Everything we do affects the environment around us and the people and animals that are part of it.

As a distributor of products whose purpose is to promote climate-friendly transport and people’s general health and well-being, we are aware of this impact and we do our utmost to ensure our climate and environmental footprint is as small as possible.

At Cycle Service Nordic, we feel it is important to demonstrate to the world that we strive to run a responsible business.

The values implied by this mean something to us and we want to live up to our company responsibilities, both in regard to climate and environment but also socially and in relation to our employees.

On that basis, we have created a task group which will specify the areas which we may influence including elaboration of specific action plans.

  Business

Because we want to reduce our environmental and climate impact, we incorporate environmental awareness in the business decisions we make. We have a range of focus areas as well as specific measures that contribute to expanded environmental and climate responsibility.

  • Through Accell Group we work to reduce amounts of packaging by using smaller and thinner alternatives and by reusing packaging and fillers to the greatest possible extent.
  • We wish to encourage the use of reusable materials such as paper, cardboard and bio-based materials and strive to use packaging that fulfils international and certified standards in sustainable forest management. Specific examples include our use of paper-based packing tape for all our customer shipments. Several of our brands also work purposefully to reduce the amount of plastic used in packaging. One example of this is XLC, who have replaced their outer plastic product packaging with biodegradable glassine.
  • Our target is to increase the use of sustainable materials in the product production.
  • We focus on increased efficiency in our energy consumption by optimizing heating systems and electrical usage, among other things.
  • We work continuously on streamlining our waste sorting (paper, plastic, bio etc.).

  Suppliers

  • Via agreements entered into as part of Accell Group, we strive to collaborate with suppliers who demonstrate social and environmental responsibility; this includes compliance with European regulations on the registration of chemicals (REACH).
  • As part of Accell Group, and thereby the WFSGI (World Federation of the Sporting Goods Industry), we are committed to the RSI (Responsible Sport Initiative): a platform that forms a foundation for the bike industry and its suppliers to focus on social and environmental improvements.

  • Through the agreements Accell Group has with suppliers and transporters, we focus on optimizing our transport of products so that they have minimal climate impact by, for example, choosing sea freight rather than air freight.

  Employees

  • We focus on providing a safe and healthy work environment.
  • We support the retention of employees in the labor market via national flex job schemes (for people with a reduced ability to work).
  • We strive to ensure that work relations are based on mutual respect and trust.
  • We support the development and training of skills among our employees.
  • We encourage and support employees to become active cyclists by offering good conditions and facilities.

  Society

  • We strive to support positive green social evolution through our business.
  • We support educational institutions by offering traineeships and internships.
  • We support international organizations such as Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) and World Bicycle Relief (WBF).
  • We support national organizations such as Kræftens Bekæmpelse and Danske Hospitalsklovne in Denmark, CoolUnite foundation for sick and disadvantaged children and, in Finland, the non-profit organization, Perinneleikit Ry.
  • We support development in our local communities through our support for schools and athletics/sports associations.
